Hamid Esmaili, M.S., S.E.

Principal Engineer and Founder

As supervisor for the Earthquake Safety Division of Los Angeles, Hamid has hands-on experience for development, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and specifically seismic retrofit programs. He was responsible for development and implementation of the specifications, guidelines, and design procedures for upgrading the existing unreinforced masonry and other hazardous buildings for compliance.

Hamid led efforts for implementations of the most recent LA Building Codes to analyze structural calculations and drawings, coordination and training of inspection teams, set up of workshops for consultants and informative sessions for property owners and resulted in a successful compliance of the requirements.

As the District Chief for the plan check division of the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, Hamid was responsible for the supervision of 30 engineers for Residential and commercial plan checks, conducting field investigations, and review of building and zoning code variances.

Hamid also has extensive experience in construction management and was Chief Structural Engineer for the $400M expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center Project.

Since then, Hamid has been working as a consultant, technical expert, and now Chief Structural Engineer for American Retrofitters.
